Finch

Finch is an American post‑hardcore band formed in 1999 in Temecula, California, by vocalist Nate Barcalow, guitarist Randy “R2K” Strohmeyer, guitarist Alex Linares, drummer Alex Pappas, and bassist Derek Doherty. The group first attracted attention with the 2001 EP Falling Into Place, which sold 6,000 copies in a few months. Their debut studio album, What It Is to Burn, was released on March 12, 2002, and produced the single "What It Is to Burn". In 2005, Finch released Say Hello to Sunshine, featuring singles "Bitemarks and Bloodstains" and "Letters To You", although the album did not achieve significant chart positions. After a brief disbandment in 2006, the band reunited in 2007, touring extensively and releasing the self‑titled EP Finch in 2008. A live album, A Far Cry from Home Tokyo 2009, followed in 2009. The releases What It Is to Burn X Live (2014) and the studio album Back to Oblivion (2014) marked the band's return to the studio; Back to Oblivion was produced by Brian Virtue and released through Razor and Tie. Finch entered a second hiatus in 2016 but announced a reunion tour in 2022 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of What It Is to Burn, culminating in a 2023 tour of the United States.
