Emily Li, known professionally as Emei, is an American alternative pop artist born on October 3, 1999. Based in Los Angeles, she blends raw lyrical honesty with infectious pop hooks. At 15, she took a gap year to compete on Chinese Idol, where she placed third. She later attended Yale University, performing with the a cappella group Mixed Company. Emei began gaining mainstream attention in 2022 when her single "Late to the Party" went viral, racking up millions of streams and views across music platforms and social media. The buzz established her as a fresh voice in alt-pop, combining clever storytelling with high-energy production. In 2023, she performed during halftime at a Los Angeles Clippers game and collaborated with the Swedish duo NOTD on "Hold On Me". Her 2024 single "SUNNYD", created with producer Whethan, was so successful that it was picked up as the official anthem for the SunnyD brand. In November 2024, she released her third EP RABBITHOLE, a conceptual project exploring themes of anxiety and personal growth. In 2025, Emei returned with the fiery single "CRAZY STUPID LOVE", showcasing her dynamic vocals and emotional intensity.
