El Presidente, a Scottish pop rock band from Glasgow, was formed in 2002 by Dante Gizzi, formerly of Gun. The group gained significant exposure through performances at major festivals such as T in the Park and V Festival in 2005, and again at T in the Park in 2006. Their debut single "Rocket" was released on January 31st, 2005, followed by their first UK tour supported by Stagger Lee. The band's breakthrough came with the release of "100 Mph" on May 2nd, 2005, which reached number 37 on the UK Singles Chart and featured a distinctive music video. They supported notable acts like Oasis and Kasabian on major tours. Their debut album El Presidente was released in October 24th, 2005, peaking at number 57 on the UK Albums Chart. The band continued to release successful singles including "Without You" and "Turn This Thing Around", both of which charted in the UK. El Presidente performed at prominent festivals like Glastonbury and RockNess, and their music was featured on various radio stations and television programs. Despite plans for a second album, the band disbanded in 2007.
