Luke Spiller is a British singer-songwriter best known as the charismatic frontman of the glam rock band the Struts. Born on 26 September 1988, in Bristol, England, he grew up in a Christian household where his early musical exposure was primarily to gospel music. His musical horizons expanded at age seven upon discovering Michael Jackson's Off the Wall, which ignited his passion for performance. By eleven, he was delving into the sounds of Led Zeppelin, Queen, AC/DC, and Leonard Cohen, emulating icons like Freddie Mercury and Bon Scott. He began playing in bands during his teenage years and started singing at sixteen. In 2009, he met guitarist Adam Slack, leading to the formation of the Struts in Derby, England. The band's lineup solidified in 2012 with the addition of bassist Jed Elliott and drummer Gethin Davies. Their debut album, Everybody Wants (2014), featured the hit single "Could Have Been Me," which reached the Top 5 on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart. Known for their electrifying live performances, The Struts have opened for legendary acts such as The Rolling Stones, The Who, Guns N’ Roses, and Foo Fighters. His flamboyant stage presence and vocal prowess have drawn comparisons to Freddie Mercury and Mick Jagger. His dynamic performances and distinctive fashion sense have become hallmarks of the Struts' identity. In 2025, he ventured into solo work with his debut album, Love Will Probably Kill Me Before Cigarettes and Wine, released via Big Machine. The album showcases his more introspective, featuring piano-driven compositions and lush string arrangements, diverging from the Struts' high-energy rock sound.
