DJ Rap & Aston

Born Charissa Saverio in Singapore on December 7, 1968, to an Italian father and an Irish-Malaysian mother, DJ and producer DJ Rap grew up in England as a teenager. She moved from Southampton to London, where she became involved in the electronic music scene and began her career as a club DJ. In 1992, she seized the opportunity to record her first EP for Reverb Records, "Divine Rhythm", in the breakbeat and hardcore style she loved. She met producer Aston (born Aston Harvey), with whom she teamed up for two singles, "Jeopardy / One More Time" and "Vertigo", which in 1993 brought her to the attention of a jungle-influenced public. Producer and founder of the Suburban Base Records label, QBass remixed "Vertigo", while "Jeopardy" was remixed by Desired State and DJ Spice. Reissued in vinyl format in 2024, "One More Time" and "Vertigo " rank among the best-selling physical singles in the UK.
