DJ BoBo

The Swiss singer, dancer and producer Peter René Baumann, known to the public as DJ BoBo, has his musical roots in hip-hop culture. As a teenager, he tried his hand at graffiti spraying, breakdancing, DJing and rapping. He was frequently booked as a party DJ in particular and was given the opportunity to release his first single "I Love You" in 1989. He celebrated his breakthrough in 1992 with the song "Somebody Dance With me", which reached number 1 in Switzerland and was in the top 5 in Germany and Austria. At this point in his career, he had already found his formula for success: Danceable club beats, rapped verses and a catchy chorus, usually sung by a female voice. DJ BoBo subsequently reached number 1 in the album charts in Switzerland six times. The LPs are often accompanied by an extensive tour with elaborately planned live shows. In most cases, the album title revealed the theme of the stage design, as with Pirates of Dance (2005), Vampires (2007) or Circus (2014). He not only performs classics such as "Everybody" (1994), "There Is a Party" (1995) and "Pray" (1996), but can also delight his fans with a lovingly staged dream world. In 2017, Peter René Baumann celebrated his 25th anniversary on stage and, unlike many of his Eurodance colleagues from the 90s, was still successfully releasing albums and filling arenas with his live shows decades later. DJ BoBo's fourteenth studio album KaleidoLuna was released in 2018. After a four-year break, another studio album followed with Evolut30n. At the beginning of 2026, DJ BoBo returns with The Great Adventure. The album reaches number 10 in Switzerland.
