Culture Beat

Culture Beat is a German Eurodance project founded in Frankfurt in 1989 by Torsten Fenslau. Although the band released a large number of singles and albums, they are best known for their super hit "Mr. Vain" (1993) - featuring British singer Tania Evans - which was a number one hit in eleven European countries, including Germany, but also reached number one in Australia and number 17 on the American Billboard Top 17. The song sells 750,000 copies in Germany alone and goes gold. After Mr. Vain, Culture Club went one better with the Europe-wide hits "Got To Get It" (1993) and "Anything" (1993) from the album Serenity (1993). In the same year, Culture Club won the Echo as the best-selling German act abroad and as best producer of the year (for Torsten Fenslau). in 1995, they returned with the album Inside Out and the single of the same name, which reached number 5 in the German charts. Another album, Metamorphosis, followed in 1998. In 2001, they attempted a comeback with the single "Insanity", a number 1 hit in Israel.
