Calva Louise are a UK-based trio forging an electrifying fusion of alt-rock, punk, electronica, and sci-fi-infused storytelling. Since emerging with their debut single “I’m Gonna Do Well” in 2016, the band has evolved into one of the most adventurous acts on the UK alternative scene. Led by Venezuelan-born vocalist and guitarist Jess Allanic, alongside Ben Parker (bass) and Alizon Taho (drums), Calva Louise have carved out a unique space where metal riffs meet glitchy electronics, and punk urgency collides with cinematic world-building. Their music is matched by a bold visual identity, often drawing from manga, cyberpunk, and dystopian themes. Their debut album Rhinoceros (2019) introduced a riotous blend of garage rock and pop-punk hooks, but it was with 2021’s Euphoric that the band fully embraced their experimental edge—layering trap beats, breakcore textures, and multilingual lyrics into a high-concept narrative arc. With 2023’s Over the Threshold, they pushed further into conceptual territory, building interconnected universes across music, visual art, and short films. They went even further into genre-mashing experimentalism with their fourth album Edge of the Abyss, throwing industrial rock and hyperpop into the mix alongside screamo and metalcore.
