Boy Meets Girl

Boy Meets Girl, an American pop duo comprising keyboardist and vocalist George Merrill and singer Shannon Rubicam, formed in 1982. Initially known for their songwriting prowess, Boy Meets Girl wrote two number one hits for Whitney Houston: "How Will I Know" and "I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)". Their debut album as a recording act was Boy Meets Girl, released in 1985. The lead single from this album, "Oh Girl", reached number 39 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Three years later, they achieved mainstream success with their follow-up album, Reel Life. This album featured the hit single "Waiting for a Star to Fall", which peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the Adult Contemporary chart in 1989. The duo also wrote songs for other artists, including Deniece Williams and Dolly Parton. In 2003, Boy Meets Girl released their fourth album, The Wonderground, and continued to collaborate musically despite their divorce in the early 2000s.
