Black Sherif

Mohammed Ismail Sherif Kwaku Frimpong, known professionally as Black Sherif, was born on 9 January 2002 in Konongo, Ashanti Region, Ghana, and emerged as a rapper and singer. He began releasing music in 2019 with "Cry for Me" and gained early attention with the 2020 single "Money". The breakthrough came in March 2022 when "Kwaku the Traveller" topped the Ghanaian and Nigerian Apple Music charts, amassing 27 million YouTube views. Following the hit, he released his debut album The Villain I Never Was on 5 October 2022, supported by singles such as "45" and "Soja". In August 2023, he issued the double single "Take Care of Yourself Blacko", and on 2 April 2025 he launched his sophomore album Iron Boy. Between albums, Black Sherif released a string of singles-including "Blood, Sweat & Tears", "Fallen Angel", and "The Victory Song"-and collaborated with artists such as Burna Boy, Smallgod, and KiDi. He performed internationally at venues including the OVO Arena Wembley, Palladium Times Square, and the Wireless Festival, becoming the first Ghanaian to headline the latter. In May 2025, he received a BET Awards nomination, marking a significant milestone in his career.
