Beartooth

Bridging the gap between hardcore punk and metalcore, Beartooth is an Ohio-based band spearheaded by frontman Caleb Shomo. The singer formed Beartooth in 2012, while still performing as the keyboardist and substitute frontman of the electronica-influenced metalcore act Attack Attack! He subsequently left Attack Attack!'s lineup and focused exclusively on Beartooth, beefing up the band's raw, gutsy sound with help from guitarist Taylor Lumley, bassist Nick Reed, and drummer Brandon Mullins. The band partnered with Red Bull Records and released a debut EP, Sick, in 2013, followed by the full-length Disgusting in 2014. "In Between" was the album's biggest hit, climbing to number 20 on the Mainstream Rock chart and eventually going gold. "Hated," a track from 2016's Aggressive, charted even higher, peaking at number 6. Featuring a mix of melodic choruses and brutal, pummeling punk music, Aggressive cracked the Top 40 in America and fared similarly well internationally, climbing to number 35 in the UK, number 28 in Canada, and number 18 in Australia. Now hailed as leaders of modern-day hardcore punk, Beartooth topped the Mainstream Rock charts with the band's third album, Disease, in 2018, then returned in 2021 with a fourth release, Below. One year later, the single "Riptide" reached number 11 on the Mainstream Rock chart and doubled as the first song to be released from the forthcoming album The Surface. Featuring another Mainstream Rock hit ("Might Love Myself," which peaked at number 3), The Surface officially arrived in late 2023 and hit Number 1 on the Hard Rock Albums chart. Also reaching Number 1 that same year was "Cut the Line," the band's duet with Papa Roach. In 2024, “I Was Alive” became Beartooth’s second chart-topping single on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart, while The Surface (Deluxe Edition) added seven tracks, including “ATTN.” The band joined I Prevail, Killswitch Engage, and Parkway Drive as rotating headliners of the Summer of Loud tour in 2025, then collaborated with Tom Morello on “Everything Burns,” recorded for Final Fantasy XIV. Beartooth supported Bad Omens on a North American arena tour in early 2026 before leaving Red Bull Records and signing with Fearless Records. Their first release for the label, “Free,” arrived in February, followed by “Pure Ecstasy” in May, “Bullshit” in June, and “Eyes Closed” in July. Beartooth’s sixth album and first for Fearless, Pure Ecstasy, was released in August 2026. Featuring contributions from Jordan Fish and Misha Mansoor, the record combined the group’s metalcore foundation with electronic production, hard rock, pop, and R&B elements.
