Barbie Hsu

Barbie Hsu, also known as Big S, was a prominent Taiwanese actress, singer, and TV host, born on October 6, 1976, in Taipei. She first gained attention with her sister Dee in 1994 as part of the pop duo ASOS (Adult Sisters of Shu) with albums like 變態少女 in 2001. She later transitioned to hosting TV shows like Guess and 100% Entertainment. Hsu achieved pan-Asian fame through her lead role in Meteor Garden and its sequel, earning her recognition across multiple Asian countries. Her other notable works include TV series like Mars and films such as Silk and Connected, the latter earning her a nomination at the Hong Kong Film Awards. Aside from acting, she authored bestselling beauty guides and was an advocate for animal rights. Hsu tragically passed away at 48 due to pneumonia after contracting influenza in Tokyo on February 2, 2025.
