Aya Matsuura

Aya Matsuura (松浦 亜弥), born on 25 June 1986, in Himeji, Hyōgo, Japan, is a Japanese pop singer and actor who gained prominence as a soloist under the Hello! Project umbrella. She debuted in 2001 with the single "Dokki Doki! LOVE Mail," which charted in the Oricon Top 10 and marked the beginning of her successful career. Throughout her career, she was involved in several collaborative projects within Hello! Project, including groups such as GAM (with Miki Fujimoto), DEF.DIVA (with Maki Goto, Natsumi Abe, and Rika Ishikawa), and Nochiura Natsumi (with Maki Goto and Natsumi Abe). She also participated in various shuffle units like 3nin Matsuri, Odoru 11, Salt5, and H.P. All Stars. Aya Matsuura's discography includes several studio albums, with notable releases such as First Kiss (2002), T.W.O (2003), and X3 (2004). She also released cover albums like Naked Songs (2006) and Click You, Link Me (2010). In 2009, she graduated from Hello! Project and took a hiatus from the entertainment industry. She returned in 2022 with the release of her single "Addicted," marking her comeback after over a decade. Beyond her music career, Aya Matsuura has appeared in various commercials, television shows, and films. She co-hosted the Disney Channel special Everyone's a Star! in 2010 and starred in the 2006 film Sukeban Deka: Codename = Asamiya Saki (also known internationally as Yo-Yo Girl Cop). In 2025, she made a splash on Japan's Oricon Top 20 Indie songs chart with the "桃色片想い" single.
