Andain, an electronic music duo from Sanâ¯Francisco, Unitedâ¯States, was formed in 2000 by producer Josh Gabriel and vocalist Mavie Marcos. The pair initially collaborated with guitarist David Penner, creating experimental electronica that attracted the attention of DJ Tiësto. Their breakthrough came with the 2002 single "Summerâ¯Calling", which appeared on Tiëstoâs Inâ¯Searchâ¯ofâ¯Sunriseâ¯3 compilation and was later released as a 12" single; the following year "Beautifulâ¯Things" was issued, gaining widespread club play and earning a nomination for Best Progressive/Trance at the 2004 Winter Music Conference. After a brief period of touring, the group disbanded in 2006. In 2011, Gabriel and Marcos reunited and released the single "Promises", followed by the full-length album Youâ¯Onceâ¯Toldâ¯Me on 24â¯Septemberâ¯2012, which included eleven tracks and several remixes. Subsequent singles "Whatâ¯Itâsâ¯Like" (2012) and "Youâ¯Onceâ¯Toldâ¯Me" (2013) expanded the albumâs reach. The duo received multiple International Dance Music Award nominations, including Best Progressive/Trance for "Beautifulâ¯Things" in 2004 and Best Trance Track for "Promises" in 2012. After 2014, members pursued solo projects, concluding Andainâs active period.
