Akihiro Namba (born June 9, 1970) is a Japanese punk rock vocalist and bassist best known as a founding member of the bands Hi-STANDARD and NAMBA69. Born in Tokyo and raised in Niigata, he launched Hi-STANDARD in 1991 with Ken Yokoyama and Akira Tsuneoka, gaining popularity through the 1990s indie punk scene. After Hi-STANDARD’s hiatus following the massive AIR JAM 2000 festival, Namba relocated to Okinawa and built his own studio. He later launched ULTRABRAIN.CO.LTD and began solo projects under names like TYÜNK and ULTRA BRAiN, experimenting with electronic and world music. Namba returned to punk with his solo work PUNK ROCK THROUGH THE NIGHT in 2011, which ranked #8 on the Oricon chart and topped Tower Records’ punk category. That same year, he released the single "WILD AT HEART"(2011) and helped revive AIR JAM, reuniting Hi-STANDARD for AIR JAM 2011. In 2013, he founded NAMBA69 with former support members, continuing to release albums including 21st CENTURY DREAMS (2014) and HEROES (2017). The band collaborated with Ken Yokoyama for a split album in 2018.
