Wolves in the Throne Room, an American atmospheric black metal band, was formed in 2002 in Olympia, Washington by brothers Aaron and Nathan Weaver. Their debut demo Wolves in the Throne Room (2004) was followed by the full-length album Diadem of 12 Stars (2006), which attracted attention from Southern Lord Records. Their second album Two Hunters (2007) introduced analog synthesizers into their sound. They released Celestial Lineage (2011) and Thrice Woven (2017). They toured extensively supporting acts like Sunn O)))))), Earth, and Weedeater, playing major festivals such as Roadburn and Hellfest. They won the award for Best Underground Band at Metal Hammer Magazine's 2018 Golden Gods Awards.
