Wilson Phillips

Wilson Phillips is an American pop trio from Los Angeles, founded in 1989. The group consists of Carnie Wilson, born on April 29, 1968 in Los Angeles, Wendy Wilson, born on October 16, 1969 in Los Angeles, and Chynna Phillips, born on February 12, 1968 in Los Angeles. Carnie Wilson and Wendy Wilson are the daughters of Brian Wilson, co-founder of the Beach Boys. Chynna Phillips is the daughter of John and Michelle Phillips of The Mamas and the Papas. The band's musical roots lie in harmonic pop, soft rock and adult contemporary. Their debut album Wilson Phillips was released in 1990 and reached number 2 on the US Billboard 200. It contained the number 1 singles "Hold On", "Release Me" and "You're in Love", which made the band famous worldwide. The album Shadows and Light followed in 1992, reaching number 4 in the US charts. After a longer break, the group released the album California in 2004, which contained cover versions of well-known West Coast songs. The Christmas album Christmas in Harmony is released in 2010. The last studio album to date, Dedicated, follows in 2012 and contains reinterpretations of songs by the Beach Boys and The Mamas and the Papas. Wilson Phillips win the Billboard Music Award for Hot 100 Single of the Year (1990) and the ASCAP Pop Award for Most Performed Song (1991) for their debut single "Hold On". At the 1991 Grammy Awards, the band is nominated in four categories, including Best New Artist.
