White Lion

White Lion was formed in New York City in 1983 by Danish vocalist Mike Tramp and guitarist Vito Bratta. The duo recruited drummer Nicki Capozzi and bassist Felix Robinson, and the band signed with Elektra Records, releasing Fight to Survive in 1985 after a difficult recording process that led to Elektra terminating the contract. The single "Broken Heart" introduced the group to the American market. In 1987, Pride was released under Atlantic Records; the single "Wait" peaked at Number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100, and "When the Children Cry" reached Number 3, propelling the album to double platinum status and cementing White Lion’s place in the glam‑metal scene. Subsequent albums Big Game (1989) and Mane Attraction (1991) produced Gold and Silver certifications, respectively, and featured tracks such as "Little Fighter" and "Lights and Thunder". After a brief European tour, the band disbanded in 1991 amid changing musical tastes and internal differences. Mike Tramp later reformed White Lion in 1999 and again in 2004, releasing Return of the Pride (2008) and a series of re‑recorded albums under the Songs of White Lion trilogy beginning in 2023, maintaining the band’s legacy into the 2020s.
