Sannie Charlotte Carlson, known professionally as Whigfield, was born on 11 April 1970 in Skælskør, Denmark. She began her career as a singer for the Italian dance act Whigfield, a collaboration with producer Alfredo Larry Pignagnoli. The project gained significant attention with the release of "Saturday Night" in 1994, which became a global hit and reached number one on the UK Singles Chart, making Whigfield the first non-UK artist at the time to debut at the top spot. This success was included in the Guinness Book of World Records. Whigfield's debut album, released in 1995, featured hits like "Another Day" and "Think of You". Her subsequent albums, including Whigfield II (1997) with "Last Christmas" and Whigfield III (2000), continued to achieve commercial success in various countries. Whigfield also collaborated with artists like Benassi Bros on the album ...Phobia, contributing vocals and lyrics under the pseudonym Naan. Throughout her career, Whigfield's music has been particularly popular in Europe and Latin America, solidifying her status as a key figure in the Eurodance genre of the 1990s. Whigfield continued to maintain a presence on the live circuit in the 2020s.
