Warrington-Runcorn New Town Development Plan

Warrington-Runcorn New Town Development Plan is the musical alias of UK-based synthesist Gordon Chapman-Fox (born April 1975) whose work blends avant-garde experimentalism with the rich textures of ambient, industrial, and synth-driven sounds. A tribute to the former urban expansion projects in the North West of England, the project channels themes of post-industrial landscapes, urban development, and societal transformation into an auditory exploration of space and place. Drawing from a wide array of influences—ranging from the pioneering work of early electronic artists to the experimental sounds of contemporary techno and ambient—Warrington-Runcorn New Town Development Plan crafts dense, atmospheric soundscapes that evoke a sense of both nostalgia and dystopia. The music mirrors the stark contrasts found in the industrialized regions of Northern England: between the hope of progress and the decay of forgotten spaces. After beginning his musical journey in the early 2000s, he later inaugurated the Warrington-Runcorn New Town Development Plan moniker in 2021 and his breakthrough came two years later with The Nation's Most Central Location album. He has since continued his world-building on subsequent releases such as 2023's Building a New Town, 2024's EP A Shared Sense of Purpose and album Your Communitiy Hub. In 2025, Chapman-Fox released Overspill Estates EP and the album Public Works and Utilities.
