Valerie Dore

Valerie Dore was born on May 28, 1963, in Milan. She is an Italian singer associated with the Italo-disco genre and is considered one of the most distinctive voices of the European dance scene of the 1980s. Behind the stage name is the musician Monica Stucchi. Starting in the early 1980s, she collaborated with producers from the Italian disco and synth-pop scene and developed a project that relied heavily on atmospheric synthesizer sounds and narrative pop structures. In 1984, her most internationally renowned track, the single “The Night,” was released. The song received radio airplay in several European countries and had a lasting impact on her public profile. During the same period , Valerie Dore released additional singles such as “Get Closer” and “It’s So Easy.” In 1984, the album *The Legend* followed, stylistically situated between Italo disco and melodic pop. In 1986, the album *Lancelot* was released, continuing the medieval-inspired imagery of her project and placing a stronger emphasis on narrative elements.
