Born Toufik Bouhraoua, the French rapper of Algerian descent Tif was born in Algiers on May 23, 1996. The son of an architect and a schoolteacher, he grew up in Bab-El-Oued, a suburb of Algiers, before leaving at the age of eighteen to study in France, where he began pursuing a career as a rapper. Settling in Lyon, he released his first track, “3iniya,” in 2019, when the COVID-19 pandemic cut short his momentum. Returning in 2022 with “Emoji DZ” and “.38,” Tif made up for lost time with the EP Houma Sweet Houma and a series of collaborations with Younès, Shaz, and Flenn, as well as new tracks like “Hinata, ” “Amnesia,” and “Shadow Boxing, ” featured on the EP 1.6 ( 2023) and its live version, 1.6 (Live Session). His bilingual French-Arabic rap, influenced by Andalusian and chaâbi styles, is gaining a growing audience, while new collaborations are pouring in, with Raplume on “Tango Hawaï” (2023), then in 2024 PLK on “La Nuit, ” Zamdane on “Noum,” and Rim’K on “Tant pis, ” accompanied by Sofiane Pamart. Meanwhile, Tif continued with a cover of “Nothing Personal (A Colors Show),” which became a hit, reaching No. 76 on the official French singles chart. In 2026, Tif released his debut album, Savashuia, which peaked at No. 14 on the SNEP chart.
