Tierra Santa

Tierra Santa, formed in La Rioja, Spain, emerged from a 1991 lineup originally called Privacy, with Ángel San Juan (vocals, guitar), Roberto Gonzalo (bass, backing vocals), Juanan San Martín (keyboards), Dan Diez (guitar), and Alain Díez (drums) counted among the band's members. The band released its first self‑produced album Medieval in 1997, establishing a power‑metal sound that drew comparisons to classic Spanish metal acts. In 1999, the label Locomotive Music issued Legendario. The 2001 album Sangre de Reyes propelled the group into national prominence, with singles such as "Sangre de Reyes" and "La Sombra de la Bestia" receiving heavy rotation on Spanish rock stations. Subsequent releases-Indomable (2003), Apocalipsis (2004), and Mejor Morir en Pie (2006)-expanded the band’s repertoire, incorporating hard‑rock elements and keyboard flourishes. After a brief hiatus announced in 2008, the group returned in 2010 with Caminos de Fuego, recorded at Sonido XXI, and continued to tour Europe and Latin America. In 2017, Quinto Elemento marked the tenth studio effort, featuring the single "Caín"; the latest album, Destino (2022), includes the track "Pecado de un Ángel". The band has maintained a steady presence in the Spanish metal scene, with several albums achieving top‑ten positions on the Spanish charts and a reputation for historically themed songwriting.
