The Gregg Allman Band

The Gregg Allman Band, a Southern rock/blues rock group, was established and led by Gregg Allman since the 1970s. The band served as an outlet for Allman's music during periods when he was not performing with the Allman Brothers Band or as a solo artist. The initial lineup of the Gregg Allman Band released their debut album I'm No Angel in February 1987, featuring notable songs such as "I'm No Angel" and "Anything Goes". The band's music blended Allman's signature Hammond organ sound with blues and rock elements, creating a distinctive Southern rock style. In the late 1980s, the Gregg Allman Band released Just Before the Bullets Fly. The band continued to evolve with various lineups over the years, including a later configuration that contributed to albums such as Low Country Blues (2011) and Southern Blood (2017), the latter of which was released just months before Allman's passing. The Gregg Allman Band disbanded following the death of Gregg Allman in May 2017, marking the end of an era for Southern rock.
