The Dreamlovers

The Dreamlovers were an American doo-wop group from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, formed in 1956. The group initially recorded demos under various names, including The Romancers and The Midnighters, before signing to Heritage Records. Their breakthrough came with the release of "When We Get Married" in 1961, which reached number 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100. This success was followed by a move to End Records, where they released "If I Should Lose You" in 1962, which peaked at number 62 on the same chart. Throughout their career, The Dreamlovers released several notable singles and albums, including The Bird And Other Golden Dancing Grooves (1963) and compilations such as Best Of The Dreamlovers Volume One. Their hit "When We Get Married" was covered by other artists, notably The Intruders in 1970 and Larry Graham in 1980. Additionally, their song "You Gave Me Somebody to Love" became a UK hit for Manfred Mann in 1966. The group remained active well into the 1960s, releasing singles like "For the First Time / Take It From A Fool" (1960) and "Welcome Home / Let Them Love" (1961). They also appeared on television shows such as PBS's Red Whit and Rock's Wedding Medley. The Dreamlovers disbanded in 1966.
