Textures is a Dutch progressive metalcore band formed in 2001 in Tilburg, North Brabant. The initial lineup included Jochem Jacobs and Bart Hennephof (guitars), Stef Broks (drums) and Richard Rietdijk (keyboards). The band's first major breakthrough came with their debut album Polars, released under Listenable Records, which won an Essent Award for "Most Promising Act" in 2004. In the subsequent years, Textures released several albums including Drawing Circles (2006) and Silhouettes (2008), featuring notable songs such as "Millstone" and "Awake". In 2011, the band signed with Nuclear Blast Records and recorded their fourth album Dualism. After Jochem Jacobs left in 2013, remaining involved in writing and production, Joe Tal took over on guitar for the recording of Phenotype (2016) and Genotype, which was scheduled for release as a double album in 2017. However, the band announced their split following a farewell tour, concluding with two final shows in their hometown of Tilburg and one last concert in India in December 2017. In 2023, Textures announced their return and the eventual release of Genotype. Ten years after it was recorded, Genotype was released on the Kscope label on January 23, 2026.
