Scottish band Swim School was born in Edinburgh in 2018, with students Alice Johnson (vocals, guitar), Lewis Bunting (guitar), Matt Mitchell (drums) and Nairn Milne (bass). With two self-produced singles as their calling card, "Sway" and "Take You There", the quartet criss-crossed local stages, before being interrupted in their momentum by the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2021, the release of the Volume 1 EP rekindled the band's activity, and they returned with new tracks on the follow-up Making Sense of It All. After a period of trio concerts, Swim School return to the studio to record their third EP Duality (2023), with new drummer Billy McMahon. The Lab Records-signed band follows the same touring regimen in 2024, stocking up on new material for the Seeing It Now EP, including a cover of the Pixies' "Where Is My Mind". Released at the end of the year, Duality & Seeing It Now brings together eleven tracks from the last two years. In 2025, the band returned with a new series of singles that oscillated between post-punk revival and dream pop, including "Heaven" and "Alone with You", before unveiling their second album Swim School at the end of October, which reached No. 20 on the UK physical sales chart.
