Superbus

Superbus is a French rock band formed in Paris in 1999 by singer, songwriter and composer Jennifer Ayache, daughter of actress Chantal Lauby. After a trip to the USA, where she wrote several songs in English, Ayache returned to France and founded the band with Michel Giovannetti (guitar) and Patrice Focone (guitar, keyboards), soon joined by François Even (bass) and Guillaume Rousé (drums). Their style blends pop rock, punk and power pop, with new wave influences. In 2002, Superbus released their first album, Aéromusical, produced by David Salsedo (Silmarils), to critical acclaim, with tracks such as "Tchi-cum-bah " and "Superstar". The second album, Pop'n'Gum (2004), marks a real commercial turning point, with the singles "Radio Song" and "Pop'n'Gum", and a more assertive, pop and energetic style; the album is certified gold. In 2006, the group won the Victoire de la Musique award for best group or artist revelation, and released Wow, their most successful album ever, the same year, with the hits "Butterfly", "Lola", "Le Rock à Billy" and "Travel the World". The album went double platinum, establishing Superbus as one of the leading French pop-rock bands of the 2000s. In 2009, Lova Lova adopts a more electro and glam rock aesthetic, with the tracks "Addictions", "Apprends-moi " and "Nelly", once again topping the French charts. After a short break during which Jennifer Ayache released a solo album(+001, in 2014), the band returned with Sunset in 2012, then Sixtape in 2016, an album with a more mature, 1980s-influenced sound, featuring the singles "Strong and Beautiful" and "On the River". In 2020, Superbus released the XX EP to celebrate 20 years in the music business, including the tracks "Silencio" and "À la chaîne". After starting out with French-language lyrics, Superbus began to include English-language titles in their repertoire, and underwent a few changes along the way. The core group of Ayache, Giovannetti, Focone and Even welcomed a new drummer in the person of Romain Bachelard, who became a permanent member on the album OK KO, released nine years after its predecessor, including the track "Lola " with Hoshi and Nicola Sirkis and a remixed version of "Butterfly " with Rori.
