SunStroke Project

The SunStroke Project was formed in 2008 in Chișinău, Moldova, by vocalist Sergei Yalovitsky, saxophonist Sergey Stepanov, and violinist Anton Ragoza, who departed in 2019. The group first attracted attention with the 2010 single "Run Away" performed with Olia Tira, which earned them a place in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 and a 22nd‑place finish. Their debut studio album Amor was released on 23 May 2014, followed by the EP Don't Touch The Classics, Vol. 1 on 4 December 2015 and Don't Touch The Classics, Vol. 2 on 11 December 2015. In 2016 they released a series of singles, including "Superman", "Lonely", and "Dam Dam Dam", which helped establish a presence in the European dance‑pop market. The 2017 entry "Hey Mamma!" achieved third place in Eurovision, marking Moldova's best result at the time. In 2023 they entered the Moldovan national final with "Yummy Mommy", finishing second. The SunStroke Project remains active, with the saxophone solo from "Run Away" becoming an internet meme known as “Epic Sax Guy.”
