Straight No Chaser is an American pop a cappella group formed in 1996 at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, by founding members Dan Ponce, Randy Stine, Charlie Mechling, Steve Morgan, Jerome Collins, Dave Roberts, Walter Chase, Mike Itkoff, and Patrick Hachey. The group transitioned to a professional act after a 1998 viral video of "The 12 Days of Christmas" attracted Atlantic Records CEO Craig Kallman, who invited the original members to reunite and record a holiday album. In 2008 the group released Holiday Spirits, which debuted at Number 1 on both iTunes and Amazon.com charts and earned a Contemporary A Cappella Recording Award for Best Holiday Album that year. Subsequent releases included Christmas Cheers (2009), With A Twist (2010), Under The Influence (2013) featuring collaborations with Sara Bareilles, Phil Collins, Elton John, Jason Mraz, Dolly Parton, Seal, Rob Thomas, and Stevie Wonder, and The New Old Fashioned (2015). The group maintained a steady touring schedule, including a 75‑city fall tour in 2010 and residencies at Harrah's Casino in 2011. Later albums I'll Have Another…Christmas Album (2016), One Shot (2018), and Social Christmasing (2020) continued to showcase their vocal arrangements, while lineup changes added members such as Jasper Smith (2020) and Freedom Young (2022). The band remains active under SNC Records, with recent releases Holiday Road (2025) and ongoing performances, marking a sustained presence in the a cappella and pop music scenes.
