Stone, a Finnish thrash metal band, was formed in 1984 by Roope Latvala on guitar and Janne Joutseniemmi on vocals and bass. They adopted a heavy metal style after the addition of Jiri Jalkanen on guitar and Pekka Kasari on drums. Their breakthrough came in 1987 when they were featured in the Finnish rock magazine Rumba, which praised their potential as the future of Finnish metal. The band released their debut single "Real Delusion" in 1987, followed by their self-titled album in 1988. Their second album, No Anaesthesia!, was released in 1989. After a series of lineup changes and the release of two more albums, Colours (1990) and Emotional Playground (1991), Stone disbanded in September 1991 due to musical differences.
