Steve Queralt

Born in Oxford on 4 February 1968, Steve Queralt is an English musician best known as the bassist for the pioneering shoegaze band Ride. He was a founding member of Ride, who emerged from the late-1980s British indie scene. The band, along with contemporaries like My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive, helped define the shoegaze genre with their layered guitars, dreamy textures, and introspective lyrics. Before joining Ride, he was briefly involved in other local bands, including the mod-influenced band Emily, where he played keyboards. After Ride disbanded in 1996, he stepped back from the music industry but returned when the band reunited in 2014. In 2022, he joined up with spoken word artist Michael Smith for the Sun Moon Town EP. He followed it up with his debut solo album, the post-rock-adjacent Swallow.
