Formed in London in 2022, the Miki Berenyi Trio revolves around Miki Berenyi, singer and guitarist with the band Lush between 1987 and 2016. Born on March 18, 1967 to a Hungarian father and Japanese mother, actress Yasuko Nagazumi, Miki Eleonora Berenyi joined Lush in a trend combining shoegaze and dream pop on three cult albums released between 1992 and 1996, before reforming in 2015. In 2018, she formed Piroshka with ex-Moose Kevin McKillop (guitar) and other musicians, for the duration of two albums, before creating the trio under her name with the same and bassist Oliver Cherer. The trio, which uses a drum machine instead of a drummer, signs with the Bella Union label to record the album Tripla, which is released in 2025 and reaches number 86 in the UK charts with the singles "Vertigo", "8th Deadly Sin" and "Big I Am".
