Stefan Waggershausen was born on February 20, 1949 in Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance. He is a well-known German singer-songwriter and pop-rock musician. His music combines elements of rock, pop, chanson and Schlager. Waggershausen began his career in the 1970s and released his first album Mein Weg mit dir in 1974. His big breakthrough came in 1984 with the duet "Zu nah am Feuer" with French singer Alice. The single reached number 6 in the German charts and remains his best-known hit. In 1990, he landed another hit with the duet "Das erste Mal tat's noch weh" with Viktor Lazlo. This song also made it into the German singles charts. His successful albums include Tabu (1986), Wenn schon nicht für immer, dann wenigstens für ewig (1990) and Sehnsucht nach irgendwo (1993). The album Sehnsucht nach irgendwo reaches number 23 in the German charts. Stefan Waggershausen also writes film music, including for the comedy Die Supernasen (1983) with Mike Krüger and Thomas Gottschalk. In the 1990s, he partially retired from the limelight, but remained active as a songwriter. His last studio album to date, Aus der Zeit gefallen, was released in 2019, on which he retained his musical signature with songs such as "Ich kenn mich selbst nicht mehr". Stefan Waggershausen has received several awards. In 1984, he received the Golden Tuning Fork and the MIDEM Prize in Cannes for the international success of "Zu nah am Feuer". Another Golden Tuning Fork follows in 1991 for the duet with Viktor Lazlo.
