Son Hyeonhui

Son Hyeonhui is a South Korean singer celebrated for her emotive vocals and contributions to folk pop and Contemporary Christian Music (CCM). She first gained national attention in 1983, as a sophomore at Chung‑Ang University majoring in French literature, by winning the Grand Prize at the 4th MBC Riverside Song Festival with her performance of “Unnamed Bird (이름없는 새).” That victory led to a signing with Jigu Records and the launch of her professional career. She released her debut folk‑pop album in 1984 and followed with a successful string of albums throughout the 1980s and 1990s, including her 1989 release Son Hyeonhui (Farewell Declaration). In 2006, she also released a two‑disc Golden compilation of her most popular tracks, titled Son Hyeonhui Golden . Later, she transitioned into gospel music, producing CCM albums such as Son Hyeonhui’s First Gospel Songs (2011) and Love Sharing Vol. 1 (2018). Across her enduring career, she has woven together folk melodies, heartfelt lyrics, and spiritual themes, achieving a wide and dedicated audience.
