Secret Garden is a musical duo founded in 1994 by Norwegian composer and pianist Rolf Løvland and Irish violinist Fionnuala Sherry. The group made a name for itself worldwide in 1995, winning the Eurovision Song Contest with the instrumental piece "Nocturne ", representing Norway, a performance that made a lasting impression with its minimalism and neo-classical aesthetic tinged with Celtic music. Their debut album, Songs from a Secret Garden (1996), was a huge international success, going platinum in several countries and staying on the US Billboard New Age chart for over 100 weeks. The duo followed up with White Stones in 1997, then Dawn of a New Century in 1999, where they refined their fusion of orchestral, folk and new age music. In 2001, they released Dreamcatcher, a compilation of their best-known tracks, followed by Once in a Red Moon (2002), featuring "You Raise Me Up", their most covered song worldwide, by the likes of Josh Groban, Westlife and Il Divo. Released in 2005, Earthsongs continues to explore emotional themes and cinematically arranged Celtic sounds. In 2007, they celebrate their journey with Inside I'm Singing, featuring vocal versions of their instrumental tracks and contributions from artists such as Brian Kennedy, Anne Takle and Peter Corry. In 2011, Winter Poem is an album with a wintry, poetic ambience. After a break, they returned in 2015 with Just the Two of Us, an acoustic album featuring their classics in intimate versions for piano and violin. In 2019, they release Storyteller, a more orchestral record with a cinematic feel. The duo remain active on stage and in the studio, and their music, at the crossroads of new age, world music and popular classical, continues to appeal to a wide audience worldwide.
