Sacred Paws are genre-blending band formed in the UK by guitarist/vocalist Ray Aggs (also known for their work with Shopping and Trash Kit) and drummer Eilidh Rodgers. Known for their infectious energy, intricate guitar work, and uplifting rhythms, the duo create a sound that fuses post-punk spirit with Afrobeat-inspired grooves and DIY pop sensibilities. Formed in 2013 and straddling both London and Glasgow, Sacred Paws quickly garnered attention with their debut EP Six Songs, followed by their 2017 debut album Strike a Match, which won the Scottish Album of the Year (SAY) Award. Their music is marked by joyous, interlocking guitar riffs, driving percussion, and catchy, layered vocals that explore themes of friendship, identity, and connection. Their 2019 follow-up album Run Around the Sun continued to expand their sonic palette while retaining the raw charm and kinetic energy that made them a standout. Sacred Paws’ live shows are just as electric—bursting with rhythm, movement, and a palpable sense of fun. Sacred Paws have carved out a space that feels both fresh and deeply rooted in global musical traditions. In 2025, they released their third studio album, Jump Into Life.
