Robert Long was born on November 28, 1943 in Schiedam, Netherlands, and is a Dutch singer, songwriter and entertainer who is considered one of the defining figures of the Dutch pop and chanson scene. From the early 1970s, Robert Long performed as a solo artist and began his career with appearances in clubs and on stages in the Netherlands. His musical style moves between pop, chanson and cabaret songs, which are characterized by emotional depth and social reflection. Robert Long writes most of his own lyrics and is regarded as a critical observer of human and social issues. Robert Long 's best-known early albums include Robert Long, which was released in 1973 and marked the start of his recording career. This was followed by Deel 2 (1974) and Zilverlinge (1976), which cemented his reputation as an innovative singer-songwriter. His album Levenslang (1979) is one of his artistic highlights and attracts attention in the Dutch music scene. In the 1980s, Robert Long released further studio albums such as God is liefde (1982) and Alles komt goed (1987). These albums show his stylistic range from thoughtful ballads to ironically critical songs. Robert Long regularly works with backing musicians, including guitarists, pianists, bassists and drummers, who shape his lively live sound. He appears on television and on tours throughout the Netherlands and is present in numerous programs in which he brings his music and lyrics to a wide audience.
