Robert Drasnin

Robert Jackson Drasnin was an American composer and clarinetist born on 17 November 1927 in Charleston West Virginia. After his family moved to Los Angeles, Drasnin joined the American Federation of Musicians and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. In 1959, Drasnin released the exotica album Voodoo: Exotic Music From Polynesia And The Far East which featured twelve original tracks and pianist John Williams. He followed with the recording Percussion Exotique (1960). Drasnin later released the albums Voodoo II (2007) and Voodoo III (2015). His professional work included composing scores for television series such as The Twilight Zone and Mission: Impossible. Drasnin taught at Cal State Northridge and UCLA Extension. Drasnin died on 13 May 2015 in Tarzana California.
