Qntal

Qntal, a German electro-medieval band, was founded in 1991 by Ernst Horn and Michael Popp. The project initially combined avant-garde electronics with medieval instruments and female vocals. Qntal released their debut album Qntal I in 1992, followed by Qntal II in 1995. After a tour as the opening act for Deine Lakaien, Ernst Horn left the band in 1999 due to creative differences. Michael Popp and Sigrid "Syrah" Hausen continued with Philipp Groth on keyboards, releasing Qntal III – Tristan und Isolde in 2003. Notable albums include Qntal IV – Ozymandias (2005) and Qntal VI – Translucida (2008). Qntal's music features medieval lyrics set to modern electronic sounds, with Sigrid "Syrah" Hausen’s mezzosopran vocals. The band has performed at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen festival multiple times and released their eighth studio album Qntal VIII – Nachtblume in 2018.
