Porridge Radio

The idea for the British indie-rock band Porridge Radio started to take shape as frontwoman Dana Margolin honed her chops playing open mic nights. Dreaming of a band, she eventually recruited drummer, Sam Yardley, bassist Maddie Ryall, and keyboard player Georgie Stott in 2015 in Brighton. They kept up a relentless live schedule, slowly building an audience and coming together as a foursome. Margolin wrote songs that were emotionally open, while she and her bandmates created a rock sound full of shiny pop touches. They self-released a number of singles and their 2015 album I’m Not Sure Anymore. They earned rave reviews for their independent aesthetic, as well as their passionate live performances and signed to an American label, Secretly Canadian, in 2019. They issued Every Bad in early 2020 to strong reviews, including showing up on mid-year best-of lists from both Stereogum and Paste. The LP hit number 11 on the UK Independent Albums Chart and included the synth-driven single “7 Seconds”, which was issued in September of 2020.
