Hailing from Belfast, Northern Ireland, Makeshift Art Bar was formed in 2022 by Joseph and Callum Sweeney, Alleyah Boulaich and Callum McGuigan. With a style characterized by raw, experimental post-punk/noise rock fusion, the quartet released their first single, "Inertia", in October 2023 , followed in late 2024 by "Birthday Party" and "Bedwetter", as a prelude to the four-track EP Lackluster Writing Makes Fundamental Reading (January 2025), ranked #4 in the UK singles chart.
