Swedish pop girl group, Play, was formed in 2001 by Anna Sundstrand, Rosanna Munter, Anais Lameche, and Faye Hamlin following a dance studio competition organized by producer Laila Bagge. Their debut single "Us Against the World" was first released in Sweden on September 11, 2001, followed by their debut self-titled album in December 2001, which reached number 74 on the Billboard chart and was certified gold for over 500,000 copies sold. In 2003, Faye Hamlin left the group to pursue her studies and was replaced by Janet Leon. Their second album Replay was released in June 2003, peaking at number 67 on the Billboard 200. The group disbanded in September 2005 after releasing a compilation album and selling over one million records. In November 2009, Faye Hamlin and Anais Lameche reunited with Sanne Karlsson for a comeback under the name Play. Their fourth album Under My Skin was released in April 2010, reaching number 7 on the Swedish charts. The single "Famous" became their first and only Number 1 hit in Sweden. Despite plans for a U.S. comeback, the group disbanded permanently soon after.
