A project led since 2005 by New Jersey-born Thom Wasluck, Planning for Burial was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The project debuted under the name Burial and recorded its debut album Leaving (2009), revealing the musician's introspective style fusing shoegaze, doom metal, slowcore and drone. Several EPs and singles shared with other bands followed before the 2014 release of Desideratum on The Flenser label, followed three years later by Below the House. After the public release of 22 June 2018, Mostly Quiet released the studio album It's Closeness, It's Easy (2025).
