Pilot Speed, a Canadian alternative rock band originating from Toronto, Ontario, was formed in 2001 under the initial name Pilate. The group was founded by Todd Clark, who posted an advertisement seeking a bass player after graduating from the University of Western Ontario. Ruby Bumrah joined first, followed by Bill Keeley and Kris Greenough, all alumni of the Ontario College of Art and Design. They began writing songs together and quickly gained popularity in Toronto. In 2003, they signed with MapleMusic Recordings and released their debut album Caught by the Window. Due to legal issues, the band changed its name to Pilot Speed in June 2006. Their song "Alright" was featured in the film Death Sentence starring Kevin Bacon. In 2009, they released their album, Wooden Bones, recorded at Canterbury Studios and Sweet Tea Studios in Toronto.
