Paul Mark Cauthen, born in 1986 in Dallas, Texas, is an American singer-songwriter known for his work in alternative country and Americana. Raised in a religious household, Cauthen's early musical influences included lessons from his grandfather, who taught him guitar and harmonies. Cauthen's solo debut, My Gospel, was released in 2016 on Lightning Rod Records and included the song "As Young As You'll Ever Be", a tribute to his friend Victor Holk. In 2018, Cauthen released the EP Have Mercy, which featured the track "Everybody Walking this Land" used in the end credits of the TV show American Gods. His second solo album, Room 41, was released in 2019 and included the tracks "Cocaine Country Dancing" and "Prayed for Rain". Cauthen often collaborated with Cody Jinks and Texas Gentlemen.
