Orla Gartland

Having learned the violin as a child and the guitar as a pre-teen, alt-pop singer-songwriter Orla Joan Gartland (born on February 3, 1995 in Dublin, Ireland) kickstarted her music career on YouTube, uploading intimate performances from her bedroom. The London-based balladeer released her debut single "Devil on My Shoulder" in 2012, which peaked at Number 2 on Ireland's singer-songwriter chart. Her first EP, Roots, arrived in 2013 with a follow-up EP, Lonely People, landing in 2015. The singer and guitarist's third EP, Why Am I Like This? came in 2019, with the folk-pop-favoring artist reaching new heights of fame via the release of 2020 EP Freckle Season; "Heavy" was featured in the BBC Three trailer for the 2020 adaptation of hit show Normal People, while "Did It To Myself" was used directly in the series. In 2021, Orla Gartland stepped out with her debut, statement-making album, Woman on the Internet, and took a seat at the table of quirky UK singer-songwriters with something to shout about. The album peaked at Number 10 on the UK Album Charts and hit Number 3 in Ireland, yielding four popular singles including the wryly funny "You're Not Special, Babe."
