Nu Elementz, real name James Sawyer, is a dynamic and versatile UK drum and bass producer from Kent known for his forward-thinking approach to the genre and his ability to craft music that resonates with both the underground and mainstream DnB scenes. With a sound that blends the raw energy of classic jungle with the sophistication of modern drum and bass, he rose to prominence in the 2010s, earning attention with his distinctive blend of rolling basslines, crisp breakbeats, and a knack for creating high-energy, floor-shaking tracks such as his 2015 Trauma and Frequency EPs, the former serving as his first release for Sweet Tooth Recs and reaching number 1 in the Juno dance Download Chart. His music is known for its attention to detail, impeccable production quality, and ability to fuse elements of liquid, jump-up, and techy DnB into a cohesive, hard-hitting sound. His style often incorporates influences from classic rave and jungle, paying homage to the origins of drum and bass while pushing the boundaries of what the genre can sound like in the present. He continues to put out singles and EPs on tastemaking labels such as Semtex Audio and Sweet Tooth, alongside his own Murda Sounds Recordings. In 2024, he enlisted fellow drum'n'bass producer Amplify for a remix of "Frequency."
