Neurosis

Neurosis is an American post‑metal band founded in Oakland, California, in 1985 by guitarist Scott Kelly, bassist Dave Edwardson, and drummer Jason Roeder. The trio began as a crust‑punk outfit, releasing their first full‑length Pain of Mind in 1987 and their debut EP Aberration in 1989, establishing a raw hardcore foundation. The band’s breakthrough came with Souls at Zero in 1992, which broadened their sound to include sludge, doom, and industrial elements, and was followed by Enemy of the Sun in 1993 and Through Silver in Blood in 1996. Subsequent releases-Times of Grace in 1999, A Sun That Never Sets in 2001, The Eye of Every Storm in 2004, Given to the Rising in 2007, Honor Found in Decay in 2012, Fires Within Fires in 2016-expanded their sonic palette and earned acclaim, with Through Silver in Blood cited by the BBC as shaping 21st‑century metal. After a hiatus beginning in 2019, the group returned in 2026 with An Undying Love for a Burning World and the addition of Aaron Turner, reaffirming their influence on post‑metal and sludge genres.
