Nessa Barrett

Like many of her contemporaries, American singer-songwriter Nessa Barrett (August 6, 2002) jumped into the public eye through video-sharing apps and made her debut as a solo artist in 2020 with the single “Pain.” Born and raised in New Jersey, she first made a name for herself as an influencer, accumulating millions of followers on social media before even considering a career in music. In 2020, she was signed to Warner Records and released the piano-driven ballad “Pain,” followed by the punk-tinged “If U Love Me” in October of that year. She later explored the negative side of her meteoric rise to fame on the single “La Di Die” (2021), featuring fellow singer Jxdn and produced by Blink-182’s Travis Barker. The track peaked at Number 11 on Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs and enjoyed a great deal of popularity in Russia, reaching Number 1 on the Tophits chart. Preceded by the non-album single “Counting Crimes,” her debut EP Pretty Poison saw the light in September 2021 and bowed at Number 4 on the Heatseekers chart. “I Hope Ur Miserable Until Ur Dead,” one of the singles from the EP, became her first entry into the Billboard Hot 100, placing at Number 88.
